KEY ACTIVITIES  & RESPONSIBILITIES

Industrial & Employee Relations

  • Liaison with the Plant Head and the department heads to understand issues related to non-management and contract staff and address the same
  • Interact directly and regularly with the non-management staff to understand their problems and work towards the redressal of the same within the policies defined by the company
  • Drive and support the management team in Long term settlement for the plant
  • Implement Employee Grievance Redressal mechanism at the Plant
  • Undertake Employee Engagement Survey for the non-management staff to understand the satisfiers and the problem areas
  • Work on the findings of the engagement survey to enhance employee engagement levels to maintain a safe, hygienic and happy work environment
  • Work with union representative to resolve labour relation issues, and to provide the voice of management to the union regularly
  • Maintain a working environment and drive disciplinary procedures as per the set norms to maintain a harmonious environment

Time Office & Payroll Processing

 

  • Maintain effective and up to date time office operations
  • Undertake monthly processing of payments to the non-management staff, ensuring adherence to union agreement
  • Undertake monthly processing and payment of bills for contract staff after verifying the same as per the contract terms and conditions

Statutory Compliance

  • Undertake all compliances as required under various relevant labour laws & regulations as per schedule and timelines defined to ensure no risks to the organization
  • Maintain healthy relations with local statutory bodies & government authorities and ensure speedy resolution of any plant related issues
  • Maintain up to date documentation related to all statutory compliances as required to avoid any risks to the organization

 

Contract Labour Management

  • Work with different departments at the plant to understand their requirements of non-management and contract staff for the year and budget for the same
  • Effectively negotiate with contractors for most suitable contract terms and conditions and save costs
  • Liaison with labour contractors to ensure availability of contractual labourers at the Plant as required
  • Monitor work load of the available contract staff to ensure optimum utilization and reduce any wastage or idle time
  • Control recruitment of the workers at the Plant to ensure adherence to manpower budgets and zero loss of production
  • Look into all matters pertaining to contractual labour as per the agreement with the contractor
  • Ensure all compliances related to contract labour are adhered to including ESIC, PF Labour Welfare, etc.
  • Enforce discipline among employees by ensuring required disciplinary measures and action
  • Highlight any irregularities related to contract staff management to the GM – Plant HR for timely action

 

Employee Welfare

 

  • Create training calendar for the workmen in consultation with the Corporate HR
  • Manage performance assessment process & career planning for Non-management staff
  • Facilitate and implement employee welfare activities at the Plant such as birthday celebrations, R&R functions, etc.
  • Drive workmen committees such as canteen committee and resolve grievances regarding the same in an effective manner

 

Education and Experience Required

Education:

MPM/ MSW with deep understanding and knowledge of labour laws, welfare etc.

Experience:

Min. 10 - 12 years of experience in IR, Welfare function in a Manufacturing unit
