Position Title: Assistant Manager – Erection & Logistics

Business Unit: Renewables – Solar
Location: Bhuj


Job Purpose

The Assistant Manager – Erection & Logistics will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and supervising erection and logistics activities for utility-scale solar projects. The role involves ensuring timely availability and movement of project materials, managing transportation and site logistics, supervising erection activities, coordinating with contractors and vendors, and ensuring project execution in line with quality, safety, and schedule requirements.


Key Responsibilities

1. Erection Planning & Execution

  • Plan, coordinate, and supervise erection activities for module mounting structures, solar PV modules, inverter stations, transformers, and other Balance of System (BoS) equipment.

  • Ensure erection works are executed in accordance with approved engineering drawings, technical specifications, project schedules, and quality standards.

  • Monitor daily progress of erection activities and ensure timely achievement of project milestones.

  • Coordinate with civil, electrical, commissioning, and quality teams to ensure seamless project execution.

2. Logistics & Material Coordination

  • Develop and monitor logistics plans for transportation of project materials, equipment, and heavy machinery from vendors to project sites.

  • Coordinate with suppliers, transporters, procurement teams, and site stores to ensure timely delivery of materials.

  • Track material dispatches, transit status, unloading, storage, and availability at site.

  • Ensure proper handling, preservation, and storage of project materials to avoid damage or losses.

3. Contractor & Vendor Management

  • Manage contractors and logistics service providers engaged in erection and transportation activities.

  • Review contractor performance, productivity, and adherence to project timelines.

  • Resolve site-level issues related to material movement, equipment availability, transportation delays, and erection activities.

  • Ensure effective coordination between vendors, contractors, and internal project teams.

4. Project Planning & Monitoring

  • Prepare erection and logistics schedules aligned with the overall project execution plan.

  • Monitor progress against planned schedules and implement corrective actions to mitigate delays.

  • Coordinate resource planning, including manpower, cranes, lifting equipment, transport vehicles, and other construction resources.

  • Participate in project review meetings and provide updates on erection and logistics progress.

5. Quality, Safety & Compliance

  • Ensure all erection and logistics activities comply with project specifications, company quality standards, and statutory regulations.

  • Implement Environment, Health & Safety (EHS) practices during loading, unloading, transportation, lifting, and erection operations.

  • Conduct regular site inspections to ensure safe working practices and compliance with project safety procedures.

  • Support quality inspections and ensure timely closure of observations and non-conformities.

6. Documentation & Reporting

  • Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly progress reports for erection and logistics activities.

  • Maintain records of material receipts, dispatches, equipment utilization, transportation schedules, and contractor performance.

  • Coordinate material reconciliation and support project close-out documentation.

  • Generate MIS reports and provide regular updates to project management.


Educational Qualification

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Civil, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline.

  • Certification in Project Management or Supply Chain Management will be an added advantage.


Experience

  • 8–12 years of relevant experience in erection, logistics, and project execution for Solar / Renewable Energy / EPC / Power / Infrastructure Projects.

  • Experience in utility-scale solar projects and handling heavy equipment logistics will be preferred.
