Position Overview:
The Engineer - Safety is responsible for supporting and implementing safety programs, procedures, and practices to ensure the health, safety, and well-being of all employees in the workplace. This role involves conducting risk assessments, promoting safety awareness, ensuring compliance with safety regulations, and addressing potential hazards. The Safety Engineer will work closely with various teams to reduce workplace accidents and injuries, improve safety standards, and foster a culture of safety throughout the organization.
The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background in safety engineering, be proactive in identifying and mitigating risks, and have experience with regulatory compliance and safety management systems.
Key Responsibilities:

Safety Program Implementation: Assist in the development and implementation of comprehensive safety programs to ensure a safe work environment. Support the application of safe work practices, safety policies, and procedures across all departments.

Risk Assessment & Hazard Identification: Conduct regular safety audits, inspections, and hazard assessments to identify and evaluate workplace risks. Recommend corrective actions and safety improvements to prevent accidents and injuries.

Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal safety regulations, including OSHA standards, and industry best practices. Assist with safety audits and inspections to ensure all operations comply with safety regulations.

Incident Investigation: Participate in investigations of workplace accidents, near-misses, or safety incidents. Document findings, perform root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence. Prepare and submit incident reports to management and regulatory bodies.

Safety Training & Awareness: Develop, conduct, and maintain safety training programs for employees on various safety topics, including hazard communication, emergency response, personal protective equipment (PPE), lockout/tagout, and safe machine operation.

Emergency Response Planning: Assist in the development, testing, and improvement of emergency response plans, including evacuation procedures, fire drills, and first aid. Ensure that employees are trained in emergency procedures and that safety equipment is accessible and functional.

Safety Inspections & Audits: Conduct regular safety inspections to identify potential hazards and ensure that safety equipment, machinery, and facilities are in good working order. Document and follow up on corrective actions as necessary.

Reporting & Documentation: Maintain accurate records of safety inspections, training sessions, audits, and incident investigations. Prepare regular reports on safety performance and incidents for management review and regulatory compliance.

Safety Equipment & PPE Management: Ensure proper use, maintenance, and availability of safety equipment, including personal protective equipment (PPE), safety signage, and emergency response tools.

Continuous Improvement: Support the continuous improvement of safety practices by researching new safety standards, best practices, and emerging technologies. Make recommendations for enhancing safety programs and reducing workplace hazards.

Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate with other departments, including operations, human resources, and engineering, to integrate safety practices into daily activities and project designs.
