About Power Transmission & Distribution Business.

With over seven decdes of experience in the industry, KEC is aglobal leader in the power Transmission & DistributionEPC space. This is the largest business vertical of the company.

The company has capabilities to design, manufacture, test, supply and Erect transmission lines on turnkey basis up to 1,200 KV, along with end-to-end solutions for underground HT and EHV cabling works. Job Title: Senior Engineer - Electrical (SS)

Experience Required: 5-10 years in Substation (SS) operations, Testing & Commissioning, and GIS Substations

Qualification: B.Tech in Electrical Engineering or Diploma in Electrical Engineering

Key Skills and Competencies:

  • Technical Skills:
    • Expertise in testing and commissioning of electrical equipment in substations (132KV/220KV), including GIS and AIS switchgear.
    • Sound knowledge of protection schemes, relay testing, and SCADA systems used in substations.
    • Understanding of switchyard layouts and electrical equipment, such as transformers, circuit breakers, isolators, and busbars.
  • Project Management:
    • Strong project management capabilities with hands-on experience in handling the execution of substation commissioning projects.
    • Ability to coordinate multi-disciplinary teams and manage project timelines and resources.
  • Communication Skills:
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills for interacting with clients, vendors, and internal teams.
    • Ability to prepare detailed reports, including test results, commissioning documentation, and progress updates.
  • Problem Solving & Troubleshooting:
    • Ability to quickly diagnose electrical faults, perform root-cause analysis, and implement corrective measures during commissioning.
  • Safety and Regulatory Compliance:
    • Knowledge of industry safety standards, guidelines, and regulatory practices governing substation construction and commissioning.

Desired Experience:

  • 5-10 years of hands-on experience in testing, commissioning, and switchyard operations for 132KV/220KV substations (preferably GIS).
  • Exposure to high-voltage equipment and substation automation systems.
  • Prior experience in leading teams and coordinating with contractors and clients.
