Key Responsibilities:

  1. EHS Compliance and Safety Standards:

    • Ensure adherence to national and international safety and environmental regulations, standards, and codes in all electrical engineering activities.
    • Develop and implement EHS guidelines specific to electrical systems design, installation, and commissioning processes.
    • Perform risk assessments and conduct regular audits on electrical installations and systems to identify potential hazards.
    • Advise the project team on electrical safety measures and ensure the correct application of safety protocols throughout the lifecycle of the project.
  2. Electrical Design and Engineering Support:

    • Provide technical support for electrical design ensuring compliance with all applicable EHS regulations.
    • Assist in the design and review of electrical systems to integrate safety and environmental considerations effectively.
    • Ensure that electrical drawings, layouts, and schematics reflect safe design practices.
  3. Health & Safety Inspections:

    • Conduct regular inspections of electrical work sites to ensure compliance with safety standards.
    • Ensure the use of personal protective equipment (PPE), lockout/tagout procedures, and other EHS safety tools during electrical works.
    • Address safety concerns related to electrical equipment and resolve issues promptly.
  4. Incident Investigation and Reporting:

    • Lead investigations into electrical-related incidents or near-misses, identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
    • Maintain accurate records of safety audits, inspections, training, and incident reports.
  5. Training and Awareness:

    • Develop and conduct EHS training sessions for electrical teams, contractors, and other project staff to raise awareness of electrical safety risks and best practices.
    • Promote a safety-first culture and continuously improve EHS practices across the project.
  6. EHS Documentation and Reporting:

    • Assist in the preparation of EHS-related reports for management and clients.
    • Ensure that all EHS documentation is up to date and meets industry standards for audits and inspections.
  7. Collaboration with Stakeholders:

    • Collaborate with project engineers, contractors, and subcontractors to integrate EHS policies into electrical system installations.
    • Liaise with government agencies, local authorities, and other relevant bodies to ensure compliance with environmental and safety regulations.
  8. Environmental Protection:

    • Ensure that electrical projects minimize negative environmental impact, ensuring compliance with relevant environmental regulations and guidelines.
    • Promote energy efficiency and sustainable practices in the design and operation of electrical systems.
