Key Purpose of the Job (Position Summary)

This position shall be responsible for driving a culture of continuous improvement and creating awareness on quality processes, QBM tools and way of working and enhancing the competencies of the entire work force in this respect. The position is also responsible for supporting the operations team where required in problem identification and solution finding through use of various tools and techniques as prescribed by the QBM approach to work.

KEY ACTIVITIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Annual planning and Improving skill & competencies

  • Plan for carrying out management diagnostics of manufacturing operations & identify improvement opportunities
  • Play active supporting role to promote manufacturing excellence
  • Facilitate annual planning in QBM way
  • Develop and implement an annual Improvement Plan for the Plant in conjunction with the Plant Teams and the Head supporting continuous improvement, quality system and cost out opportunities
  • Ensure clarity on RRA (Roles, Responsibilities, and Accountabilities) of owners of various processes across the organization, in terms of goals and operational objectives to be achieved

 

Productivity Improvement

  • Facilitate problem solving teams for use of various tools like QC – SPARSH circle or QIP’s etc.
  • Establish daily work management across manufacturing and other related processes / teams
  • Work together with the operation head to drive Value Adding initiatives in the Plant by using Kaizen, Visual management, Quality Circle etc.
  • Work towards continuous improvement by taking up continuous improvement/ best practice projects in CFTs to identify key areas and action on them – repeat

Assessment and Audits

  • Implement 5S and regular audit plan across the plant
  • Recommend to the Production department on the quality parameters to ensure that the quality standards are adhered to
  • Conduct regular Assessments at the Plant to monitor progress and identify best practices within the division on 5s parameters, SPARSH circle and machine implementation etc. Share those best practices with other Plants and the Corporate for lateral deployment
  • Support and facilitate improvements by identifying issues, solutions and working with the teams in consultation with Operations team

Training

  • Create awareness about structured problem solving and facilitate solving of major cost and quality problems
  • Train and coach individuals and teams in appropriate use of Process Improvement and Design methodologies and tools
  • Coordinate timely SPARSH and QBM trainings are conducted in a timely and efficient manner

Documentation & Analysis

  • Be actively involved in publishing Improvement MIS & communication periodically
  • Participate in SPARSH score analysis for all divisions in department
  • Participate in audit scores

Improvement Projects

  • Coordinate in projects like SARSH, SPC, Identification of unsafe conditions etc. in the respective division
  • Participate and Coordinate in projects and initiatives under Total Productivity Management aimed at enhancing overall productivity, quality and reduction in cost
  • Participate in initiatives on continuous improvement like Kaizen, Cross Functional Teams, Quality Circles, etc.
  • Coordinate training programs for Quality tools like CPA, PA, FMEA, MPS, TS, etc. to employees

Team and Relationship Management

  • Be part of Creating awareness about QBM including 5S, 3M, AM and process orientation to the team

 

Education and Experience Required

Education:

B.E./ B-Tech- Industrial/ Mechanical

Preferably MBA in Operations with relevant work experience

Experience:

1 - 3 years
