KEY ACTIVITIES  & RESPONSIBILITIES

Planning & Budgeting

 

  • Plan, implement and monitor the production schedule for the division based on the production plan and in coordination with the Plant Planning team (PPC)
  • Coordinate with other production departments to ensure that there is synchronized work taking place between departments
  • Based on the monthly / weekly production plan, workout manpower requirement (workmen and contract labour) in the plant and work with HR to ensure availability of workforce on production lines
  • Identify opportunities for improvement to enhance utilization of resources and work closely with the Industrial Engineering team to enhance utilization of all production resources and space, including stores space and inventory
  • Plan and coordinate with other support functions such as engineering, IE to consider alternatives / opportunities for improvement in resource utilization and production capability
  • Plan for shutdown maintenance in consultation with the Engineering team

Operations      

 

  • Ensure that the unit has the necessary material resources, consumables and spares to meet production targets for the shift and raise stores indent if required
  • Define and communicate work schedules and production sequences for the shift managers to meet production goals
  • Supervise production activities on the shop floor to address any issues or barriers that the team may face
  • Trouble shoot on production issues, by coordinating with other support functions such as the Technology team, Engineering team, quality team etc., if required
  • Provide for leave signoffs for the reporting team
  • Attend and present in daily and weekly meetings - Daily Work Management meetings, Scrap classification meetings, production review meetings etc. for the assigned shift
  • Escalate and report key issues timely

 

 

 

Monitoring & Review

 

  • Track and monitor performance targets towards kg/ man hr, CLIP, RM and Indirect material consumption, process scrap etc.
  • Ensure all quality parameters and requirements for the product are adhered to through the production process at the Division
  • Ensure reduction in in-process rejections and internal rework so as to attain efficient operations and cost reduction
  • Ensure adherence to TAT towards activities such as mould change, plate change and drum change time etc.
  • Conduct GAP analysis for planned and actual production levels
  • Review Scrap analysis by monitoring scrap levels and trend analysis
  • Review machine breakdown analysis and YY analysis

Cost Reduction

  • Focus on measures to reduce cost and drive initiatives in this respect
  • Ensure efficient handling of the material and overall reduction in wastage
  • Monitor consumption of indirect material in the Division and implement ways to reduce the same    

MIS and Reporting

  • Document information to account for delays, or changes to production process
  • Ensure that production data, including volume produced consumption of raw materials, or quality control measures is recorded
  • Review documentation maintained by subordinates e.g. Log books, production numbers and SAP entries

Improvement Initiatives

  • Drive adherence to SOP and autonomous maintenance of tyre building machines to reduce break down and enhance efficiency of machines
  • Undertake activities in the Division to maintain and improve manpower productivity through optimization, process / method changes, Kaizen, etc.
  • Plan and ensure implementation of various activities in the Division as identified by the GM – Production for improvement of work space through 5S and 3M, reduction of MURI on workers and improving the capacity of the production process
  • Support implementation of new systems and process improvements like OHSAS, ISO, QBM, Kaizen, etc.
  • Ensure that the team adheres to norms laid down as per SPC and drive maintenance of machines through SPARSH program

Health and Safety:

  • Ensure safety measures are consistently and strictly followed in the Division and take initiative to enhance acceptance of safety as a culture so as to achieve zero accident level.
  • Ensure all statutory, legal and procedural requirements on EHS are consistently complied with
  • Ensure all employees in the Division are adequately trained with respect to EHS

Team & Relationship Management

 

  • Manage performance of the team and ensure that team is working in line with organizational value system
  • Ensure production staff is adequately trained and proactively work  with HR at capability enhancement of team 
  • Conduct effective performance appraisals for the team and provide regular feedback
  • Motivate, counsel and coach employees to ensure a conducive working environment
  • Discuss with management to resolve worker problems, complaints or grievances
  • Develop constructive and cooperative working relationships with team, union members, workers, contractors and contract workmen.

 

 

Education and Experience Required

Education:

Diploma (Engineering) / B-Tech

Experience:

Diploma – 18 to 24 yrs

B-Tech – 15 to 20 yrs
