Job Description – Officer III (Plant Planning)
Position Title:
Officer III – Plant Planning
Department:
Production Planning & Control (PPC)
Reporting To:
Manager – Planning / PPC Head
Key Responsibilities:
- Production Planning & Scheduling
- Prepare and release daily, weekly, and monthly production plans as per the Integrated Production Plan (IPP).
- Ensure timely scheduling and handover of production plans to all manufacturing shops.
- Monitor plan adherence and take corrective actions to achieve production targets.
- Machine Loading & Capacity Planning
- Coordinate with shop floor teams for effective machine loading and optimum utilization of resources.
- Address critical and special production requirements by aligning machine capacity and manpower availability.
- Identify bottlenecks and recommend corrective measures for smooth production flow.
- Material Requirement Planning (MRP)
- Prepare and maintain Material Requirement Planning (MRP) for production requirements.
- Ensure timely availability of raw materials, consumables, and bought-out items.
- Monitor inventory levels and coordinate with concerned departments to avoid shortages.
- Raw Material Monitoring
- Track steel and other raw material availability against production requirements.
- Coordinate with the Procurement team for timely material procurement and delivery.
- Monitor material consumption and update planning records accordingly.
- Cross-Functional Coordination
- Coordinate daily with the Raw Material Yard for receipt and availability of raw materials.
- Liaise with the Quality Control team for timely inspection and clearance of incoming materials.
- Coordinate with the PPC/Design team for availability of sketches, drawings, and production documents.
- Ensure seamless communication between Planning, Production, Procurement, Quality, and Stores teams.
- MIS & Reporting
- Prepare daily production planning reports, material status reports, and progress updates.
- Analyze production variances and provide recommendations for improving planning efficiency.
- Maintain planning records and ensure data accuracy in ERP/MIS systems.
Required Skills & Competencies:
- Knowledge of Production Planning & Control (PPC).
- Understanding of Material Requirement Planning (MRP).
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes and machine loading.
- Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in ERP systems and MS Excel.
- Strong coordination and communication skills.
Qualification:
- B.E./B.Tech (Mechanical/Production/Industrial Engineering) or equivalent.
Experience:
- 5–8 years of experience in Production Planning, PPC, or Manufacturing Planning functions.
