Purpose of the Role
|
Perform product technology gap assessment and propose design modifications / new designs of Earthing, Lighting Protection system, Perform Global Benchmarking, carry out design improvement projects including new products to fill the gaps in the domain and support aggressive business growth goals

Key Deliverables
|
Duties & Responsibilities: -
- Design, development and refines Earthing and Lighting Protection System products.
- To Re-Design the products with cost effectiveness and inline to the standard requirements.
- Working and developmental knowledge of Air terminal rods, strike Pad, Clamping and bonding components, Earth rods, Earth Pits and Earthing bars and SPD’s.
- Knowledge of Lightning protection solution which includes Direct lightning and Risk assessment calculation.
- Knowledge of Earthing solution which includes Earthing calculation and earthing system design and Exothermic Welding.
- Working knowledge of various standards BS EN/ IEC 62305, BS EN/IEC 62561, UL 96, BS 7671, NFC 17-102, BS 7430, UL 467, BS EN 50522.
- Concept design, design optimization, prototype and manufacturing release
- Manufacturing process knowledge – Casting, Machining, forging
- Drive end to end NPD process for Product Engineering taking through various design stage gates as per the process
- Develop detailed designs considering DFA, DFM and DFSS
- Apply theoretical knowledge of Design and mechanical engineering principles to solution for Earthing and lightning protection system.
- Apply GD&T for designs and FMEA.
- Perform portfolio gap analysis
- Perform Competitive Benchmarking and data analytics
- Develop Test plan & perform Design Verification and Validation
- Liaise with external partners/suppliers for development.
- Develop robust test methods and design test fixtures to ensure that selected materials and prototype designs are accurately evaluated against the specification and requirements.
- Strives to improve efficiency and sustainability of processes and product designs
- Attends conferences and makes site visit to suppliers’ facilities.
- Assures that process meets quality and safety compliance guidelines.
- Collaborate with other team leaders and departments.
- Develop and maintains relationship with suppliers and customers
Qualification/ Skills :
- Mechanical Engineer with essential product and process knowledge who has worked in electrical domain.
- Experience using computer-aided design (CAD) platforms, Inventor or Solidworks.
