Position Title: Senior Engineer – Electrical
Business Unit: Renewables – Wind
Location: Gadag, Karnataka
Job Purpose
The Senior Engineer – Electrical will be responsible for execution, supervision, and monitoring of electrical works at wind project sites, ensuring adherence to project timelines, technical specifications, quality standards, and safety requirements. The role involves electrical installation, testing, commissioning support, contractor coordination, and ensuring smooth execution of all project-related electrical activities from installation to project commissioning.
Key Responsibilities
1. Electrical Execution & Site Supervision

Supervise and execute electrical works related to wind power projects, ensuring compliance with approved drawings, technical specifications, and project requirements.

Monitor installation, erection, testing, and commissioning of electrical systems associated with wind project execution.

Oversee electrical activities such as cable laying, cable termination, earthing, panel installation, lighting, transformer-related works, and electrical integration of wind turbine systems.

Ensure timely completion of site electrical activities in line with project schedules and milestones.
2. Wind Project Electrical Activities

Support execution of electrical works related to wind turbine installation, internal electrical systems, HT/LT cable networks, switchyard / pooling substation interfaces, and grid connectivity activities.

Coordinate with OEM / WTG suppliers, commissioning teams, and internal stakeholders for electrical installation and testing requirements.

Monitor execution of electrical works related to substation connectivity, SCADA / control systems, and project power evacuation systems, as applicable.
3. Planning & Coordination

Coordinate with project, civil, mechanical, quality, and commissioning teams for smooth execution of electrical activities at site.

Assist in preparation of daily / weekly execution plans and monitor progress against planned schedules.

Ensure timely availability of electrical materials, drawings, tools, and manpower for project execution.

Coordinate with contractors, vendors, and suppliers to resolve site execution issues and maintain project progress.
4. Testing & Commissioning Support

Support testing and commissioning of electrical systems and equipment in coordination with project and OEM teams.

Verify readiness of installations before energization / commissioning and ensure all testing requirements are completed.

Assist in troubleshooting electrical issues during installation, pre-commissioning, and commissioning stages.
5. Quality & Technical Compliance

Ensure electrical works are carried out in accordance with quality standards, approved procedures, and technical specifications.

Conduct inspections of electrical works, identify deviations / non-conformities, and ensure corrective actions are taken.

Verify quality of cable laying, termination, earthing, equipment installation, and testing activities.

Maintain inspection records, test reports, and quality documentation for electrical works.
6. Contractor Management

Supervise contractor teams executing electrical works at site and monitor productivity, workmanship, and schedule adherence.

Provide technical guidance and support to contractors and site teams during execution.

Verify contractor progress and support certification of completed electrical works, where required.
7. Safety & Compliance

Ensure strict adherence to EHS standards, electrical safety procedures, and statutory requirements during execution of site activities.

Promote safe working practices and ensure compliance by contractors and site workmen.

Report unsafe conditions, incidents, and near misses, and support implementation of corrective actions.
8. Reporting & Documentation
-
Prepare daily / weekly progress reports, execution updates, testing records, and material utilization details for electrical works.

Maintain documentation related to installation, inspections, testing, commissioning, and project handover.

Support preparation of MIS and progress reports for project management review.
Educational Qualification
-
Bachelor’s degree / Diploma in Electrical Engineering
Experience
-
5–8 years of relevant experience in electrical execution of Wind / Renewable / EPC / Power projects
-
Experience in wind project electrical systems, cable networks, substation / pooling station interface, and site commissioning support will be preferred
