Position Title: Senior Engineer – Mechanical

Business Unit: Renewables – Wind
Location: Bhuj, Gujarat

Job Purpose

The Senior Engineer – Mechanical will be responsible for execution and supervision of mechanical activities at wind project sites, ensuring adherence to project timelines, quality standards, safety norms, and technical specifications. The role involves coordination of erection, installation, and commissioning activities related to wind turbine components and associated mechanical systems.


Key Responsibilities

1. Mechanical Execution at Site

  • Supervise and execute mechanical activities related to wind power projects, including installation, erection, alignment, and commissioning of wind turbine components.

  • Ensure site activities are carried out as per approved drawings, technical specifications, and project requirements.

  • Monitor mechanical works at site and ensure timely completion in line with project schedules.

  • Support in execution of tower erection, nacelle installation, rotor assembly, and other turbine-related mechanical activities.

2. Planning & Coordination

  • Coordinate with project planning, electrical, civil, and commissioning teams for smooth execution of project activities.

  • Assist in preparation of daily/weekly work plans and monitor progress against project milestones.

  • Ensure timely availability of mechanical materials, tools, equipment, and manpower for execution.

  • Coordinate with contractors, vendors, and OEM representatives for site execution requirements.

3. Quality & Technical Compliance

  • Ensure all mechanical works are executed in compliance with quality standards, approved procedures, and technical specifications.

  • Conduct inspections of mechanical works and report deviations, non-conformities, and site issues for timely resolution.

  • Verify proper installation, alignment, torqueing, and commissioning practices for wind turbine mechanical systems.

  • Maintain records of inspections, checklists, and quality documentation.

4. Contractor & Site Supervision

  • Supervise contractor teams and monitor productivity, workmanship, and adherence to site schedules.

  • Provide technical guidance to contractors and site teams during execution of mechanical works.

  • Ensure proper utilization of manpower, tools, and machinery at site.

  • Support certification and verification of contractor progress and work completion.

5. Safety & Compliance

  • Ensure strict adherence to EHS standards, safety procedures, and site compliance norms during execution of mechanical activities.

  • Promote safe working practices and ensure contractors and workers comply with site safety requirements.

  • Report unsafe conditions, incidents, and near misses, and support implementation of corrective actions.

6. Reporting & Documentation

  • Prepare and maintain daily progress reports, site records, material consumption details, and mechanical execution status.

  • Maintain documentation related to installation, inspection, testing, commissioning, and handover of mechanical works.

  • Support preparation of MIS and progress reports for management review.


Educational Qualification

  • Bachelor’s degree / Diploma in Mechanical Engineering


Experience

  • 5–8 years of relevant experience in mechanical execution of Wind / Renewable / EPC / Power projects

  • Experience in wind turbine erection, installation, and site execution will be preferred
