Job Duties
The Engineer – Environment, Health & Safety (EHS) is responsible for implementing, monitoring, and continuously improving Environment, Health & Safety (EHS) practices across Railway and Resource Management (RM) project sites. The role ensures full compliance with applicable statutory regulations, organizational policies, and industry best practices while fostering a proactive culture of safety, health, and environmental sustainability.
The incumbent implements EHS policies and procedures across project locations, monitors compliance with legal and company safety standards, and supports project teams in maintaining safe working practices. The role involves conducting regular site inspections, safety audits, and risk assessments to identify hazards, evaluate workplace risks, and recommend appropriate corrective and preventive actions. The Engineer also tracks the timely closure of audit observations and ensures continuous compliance with EHS requirements.
A key responsibility is to promote safety awareness by organizing safety induction programs, toolbox talks, mock drills, and EHS campaigns for employees and contractors. The Engineer delivers safety training programs, maintains training records, and encourages active employee participation to strengthen the organization's safety culture.
The role is responsible for managing incident reporting and investigation processes, including near-miss events, conducting root cause analyses, preparing investigation reports, maintaining incident documentation, and implementing corrective actions and preventive measures to avoid recurrence.
Additionally, the Engineer coordinates with government authorities, contractors, consultants, and internal stakeholders on EHS-related matters, facilitates statutory inspections and regulatory compliance activities, supports management in EHS reporting and communication, and contributes to the implementation of continuous improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing workplace safety, environmental performance, and overall operational excellence.
